Each shark carries a SPOT tag that connects to the Argos satellite system, but they only ping when they come to the surface. That means there can be gaps in time and space between pings. If those pings are near a peninsula or coastline, the Tracker draws a straight line between them — even if it cuts across land. We don’t “guess” the route — we show you the real data.
