“Geordie" (Child Ballad 209) - I adapted this from a version I heard Anais Mitchell and Jefferson Hamer do on their album "Child Ballads". That curious title refers to James Childs’ effort in the 19th century to gather the many traditional folk songs from England and Scotland that had been kicking around for centuries and put them in one place. ​ ​The first time I heard Geordie it totally wrecked me, which is why I was inspired to make my own version you see here.
