Tacoma Fire crews respond to all kinds of fires. Today, we responded to a garbage truck fire that was between a lumber yard and an occupied office building. The garbage truck driver heard an explosion when they compacted the load of refuse, but they immediately took action. The driver offloaded the truck’s contents and allowed the truck to cool and vent the smoke inside. Our crews successfully made sure the fire stayed contained to the truck and garbage pile.
