The mural was initially defaced on April 29. Created by artist Louie "Sloe" Motion, the tribute was first painted in the wake of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Kobe, Gigi, and seven others back in January 2020.

After being restored recently, the Kobe and Gigi Bryant mural in downtown Los Angeles has been vandalized once again.
