A several-day stretch of very cold temperatures is expected this week across Alabama and much of the country, and there are still two chances for some snow in the forecast. They are still very uncertain chances, however. Parts of northern Alabama have a shot at seeing a few snowflakes on Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

We are really going to be focused on the freezing line and how far south that will be. Any southward shift means more wintry mischief across Alabama. A more northward shift will mean a very cold rain for much of the state.

The first chance will arrive early on Sunday and could only affect northeast Alabama. The National Weather Service in Huntsville said some light precipitation could move across north Alabama from west to east just before sunrise on Sunday.
