The vacation rental platform is redesigning its app and expanding its offerings with the launch of Airbnb Services and Airbnb Experiences, letting users go beyond booking a room or home stay and choose from a variety of amenities, similar to what hotel chains and cruises offer to guests.

At an event on Tuesday, Airbnb rolled out what is likely its biggest shift since its founder, Brian Chesky, blew up an air mattress and invited guests of a design conference to crash at his apartment in San Francisco almost two decades ago.

Airbnb is aiming to be a full-service travel platform with new features, offerings and a redesign of its app. That includes a new “Airbnb Services” section where users can book chefs, masseuses, personal trainers and other types of service professionals to come to their Airbnb.
