Aaron Glenn has been hired as the new head coach in New York. That move was announced on Wednesday. That decision was swiftly made and all signs pointed to Washington Commanders assistant general manager Lance Newmark being named the Jets GM. That’s because Newmark and Glenn have a history of working together while both were with the Detroit Lions.

Most organizations in the NFL choose to hire the general manager before the team's head coach with the belief that the top executive picks the players and the head coach puts the players in the best position to succeed. The Jets are doing something different, though, with the hire of Glenn before making a decision on their GM job.

“And there is word out there, there’s been leaks I’ve heard that whatever they pay Aaron Glenn, (he’s) made it known that he would like to keep Aaron Rodgers,” Kay said on his radio show Tuesday, a day before the Glenn hiring became official.
