On Wednesday the NBA announced the group drawings for the 2025 in-season tournament known as the NBA Cup. The NBA teams are split into six groups of five teams, the Mavericks landing in the West B group along with the LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans and, of course, Luka Doncic and the LA Lakers.
The Mavericks are running it back with head coach Jason Kidd despite persistent rumors that the New York Knicks were interested in hiring him. Those whispers have been put to rest after the Knicks brought on veteran coach Mike Brown to lead the franchise.

His injury update was originally reported by ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.
His addition also allows for the Heat to trade a valuable asset in former No. 1 overall pick, Andrew Wiggins. The Heat acquired him as part of the Jimmy Butler trade, and have been shopping him throughout the offseason.
