Snow and ice may bring major travel disruptions and power outages in the South starting Monday evening, forecasters warned.

An already active winter is about to shift into overdrive as a trio of storms over the weekend and into next week deliver snow to the Midwest, East and possibly as far south as the Gulf Coast.

It has been cold and windy with more sunshine today, and it is going to get even more frigid during the overnight hours tonight. This evening through late Monday morning, an Extreme Cold Warning is in place as wind chills could drop into the single digits for some inland spots.
