Melissa is now a Category 2 hurricane as it continues to move across eastern Cuba. Melissa will emerge over water in a few hours as it moves north of Cuba, impacting the Bahamas this afternoon. The latest forecast track shows Melissa passing near Bermuda Thursday night.

Heavy floodwaters swept across southwestern Jamaica, winds tore roofs off buildings and boulders tumbled into roads Tuesday as Hurricane Melissa came ashore.

Melissa is now traveling over Cuba, with strong, violent winds and extreme rainfall. Up to 16 inches of rain is possible for eastern Cuba.
