The Cowboys plan to promote offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach, NFL Network reports Friday night. The report follows one from Clarence Hill of All City DLLS on Thursday that the Cowboys were negotiating to hire Schottenheimer. Schottenheimer, 51, will replace Mike McCarthy.
The Cowboys also interviewed Seattle Seahawks assistant head coach Leslie Frazier, former New York Jets coach Robert Saleh and Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who coached with the Cowboys for five seasons, spending 2019 to 2022 as their offensive coordinator.
For some of those teams, that will involve finding new head coaches and/or General Managers. Three teams fired their head coaches during the season and two more have been dispatched as of 9 a.m. ET on January 6.
