Donald Trump has said that pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell is something he is “allowed to do”. Maxwell, the ex-girlfriend of convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, was interviewed by Trump administration officials in prison for the second day in a row on Friday.

Political analyst Maggie Haberman on Friday evaluated the potential impact of President Trump possibly pardoning convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell after she cooperated with the Justice Department (DOJ) during two days of interviews.

Representative Dan Goldman, a New York Democrat, Tuesday on X: "DOJ plans to interview Ghislaine Maxwell. But why now? Ghislaine is looking for a pardon, and who would be better to give it to her than a co-conspirator now in the Oval Office. Any testimony she provides must be accompanied by the release of the files to corroborate it."
