California Gov. Gavin Newsom has sued Fox News over alleged defamation, saying the network knowingly aired false information about him over a phone call he had with President Donald Trump around the time the National Guard was sent Los Angeles.

California's governor is taking Fox News to court in a personal capacity, accusing the network of defamation over comments related to the deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles.

Newsom alleges Fox News host Jesse Watters claimed that he lied about his phone calls with Trump, who ordered National Guard troops to L.A. earlier this month.
