European-based stars get summer rest as Emma Hayes calls in summer USWNT roster
The roster is almost entirely based of NWSL players, as head coach Emma Hayes announced last week that she would be giving the players based in Europe a break for the summer. The lone exception was defender Naomi Girma, who just got back to the USWNT after recovering from a calf injury that kept her out for several months.

Girma's inclusion comes as something of a surprise as Hayes has turned to a significant NWSL contingent for the the matches against Ireland and Canada - with 24 of the 25 players in camp coming from the United States' domestic league.
