Pentagon chief Hegseth: Three dead in new US attack in the Caribbean
The US military has carried out another deadly strike on a boat allegedly loaded with drugs in the Caribbean Sea, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said on Saturday. Three men were killed in the attack, Hegseth wrote in a post on X,
The deployment of USS Gettysburg comes as a carrier strike group is also heading to the region, while Trump denies he is about to strike.
The attacks, which have killed at least 61 people, are threatening the region’s fishing, shipping and tourism industries and exposing differences among leaders.
Rescue efforts are underway across the Caribbean after Hurricane Melissa tore through the region as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms in more than 150 years.
Travelers are finally starting to come home from Jamaica, Cuba and other islands that were impacted by the major hurricane earlier this week.
