Maryland and Virginia residents are preparing for a possibly significant winter storm that is expected to deliver heavy snowfall and dangerously low temperatures starting Sunday afternoon according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Storm Warning is in effect for most of West Virginia from 1 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2025 to 8 a.m. on Jan. 20, 2025, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston, West Virginia. In addition an Extreme Cold Watch runs from late on Jan.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Loudoun County and winter storm watches for western Prince William and Fauquier beginning early Sunday morning.

The entire Delaware Valley will see snow Sunday, with 3-6 inches expected in Philadelphia. On Monday and Tuesday, temps plummet into the teens and single digits.
