A total of 71 generals of the Nigerian Army, including 60 major generals and 11 brigadier-generals, have been redeployed in a major shake-up of the Nigerian Army. Naija News understands that the shake-up is part of activities heralding the emergence of Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Two Nigerian soldiers and a local vigilante were killed during a fierce gun battle between security forces and terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, in the Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State. The clash also left 19 bandits dead, with several motorcycles and mobile phones recovered.
