ACAPULCO, Mexico -- A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck near the Mexico resort city of Acapulco late Tuesday, according to the USGS. The quake hit at 6:47 p.m. PT less than 10 miles north of Acapulco.
Experts warn there's a 7 to 10% chance of a magnitude 7.0 or greater earthquake in the next 50 years in the New Madrid zone.
