MIAMI (AP) — Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will play a Major League Soccer match in their new stadium for the first time on April 4, one of the highlights of the league’s schedule that was revealed Thursday. The 2026 MLS regular season starts Feb. 21 and runs through Nov. 7.

More than two years after the global icon joined Major League Soccer, Messi’s Inter Miami team is finally scheduled to play Real Salt Lake at America First Field.

Starting in 2027, MLS will align its season with world’s top soccer leagues, adopting a summer-to-spring schedule, one of the most significant developments in the league’s history. It also will have a 14-game sprint season in spring 2027 ahead of the new regular season format.
