Southern California firefighters are battling two major wildfires, the Springs Fire and the Crown Fire, which are spreading rapidly under dangerously dry and windy conditions.
The brush fire started on Gilman Springs Road amid Friday's windy conditions, which included a Wind Advisory issued by the National Weather Service that was extended to 3 p.m. Saturday. Two air tanks were flying over the fire while 23 engines and 105 firefighters were deployed. Two hand crews were also on site.
A brush fire burning near Acton in Los Angeles County has grown to 280 acres, according to Cal Fire. When the fire was first reported around 12:30 p.m., the Crown Fire was at 80 acres. About an hour later, the blaze grew 200 acres.
