And just like that, OU’s College Football Playoff run is over. After building a big lead early, the Sooners fell apart in a 34-24 loss to Alabama, ending their season in a crushing way.
For the second time in three seasons, the Alabama football team has made it to the Rose Bowl. The Crimson Tide, after its win Friday at Oklahoma in the opening round of the College Football Playoff, locked up a spot in Pasadena against No. 1 Indiana in the national quarterfinals. The two schools have never played one another on the gridiron before.
To cap off the season, Indiana, which had faced criticism for its strength of schedule throughout the year, pulled off a huge upset in Indianapolis. The Hoosiers beat then No. 1 Ohio State, earning the top seed in the CFP and a spot in the Rose Bowl.

No. 1 Indiana (13-0) will face No. 9 Alabama (11-3) at 4 p.m. ET on Jan. 1 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The Crimson Tide defeated the Sooners, 34-24, on Friday night at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman.
Alabama football will need to find a new quarterbacks coach for 2026. Nick Sheridan is expected to leave the Crimson Tide, and is set to become the new offensive coordinator at Michigan State, sources with knowledge of the hire told AL.com. CBS Sports was the first to report the news.
