The Red Sox announced Sunday that Casas had suffered a ruptured patellar tendon during a Friday win over the Minnesota Twins. Casas, who was limited to 63 games in 2023 after suffering torn cartilage in his rib cage, had batted .182 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in his first 29 games of the 2024 season.

The Boston Red Sox are in a little bit of trouble at the moment after losing Triston Casas for the season. Casas tore his patellar tendon last week and had season-ending surgery. Boston now finds themselves in need of a solution at first base.

However, the natural fit and heir apparent, Romy González, is proving that he can be more than a bench piece for manager Alex Cora. The 28-year-old former 18th-round pick of the Chicago White Sox came to Boston off waivers in January 2024.
