Several residents in a San Diego area community are being evacuated as firefighters work to battle a wind-driven brush fire that is threatening homes.

Cal Fire, the Poway Fire Department and San Diego Fire-Rescue converged on the blaze, which had reached 3 acres in size and threatened nearby structures before forward progress was reported to have been stopped around 3 p.

Firefighters are battling a brush fire threatening homes in Poway Monday afternoon. Fire crews are working to douse a 2-acre brush fire in Poway that broke out just after 1 p.m. Monday near a hiking trail by the intersection of Ted Williams Pkwy and Pomerado Road.
