The Boston Red Sox activated catcher Connor Wong from the 10-day injured list on Friday. Wong broke his left pinkie in a 6-2 home loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on April 7 and went on the IL the following day.

The Red Sox officially have their starting catcher back. Prior to Friday’s game the Red Sox announced they have activated catcher Connor Wong from the 10-day injured list. To clear space the club also optioned backup Blake Sabol to Triple-A.

With Buehler out, Brayan Bello moved up a day to start the series opener, leaving Saturday’s starter up in the air. Cora didn’t make an official decision on who would make that start, but said it would likely be Hunter Dobbins, who was recalled from Triple A Worcester.

Less than 24 hours after the Red Sox lost to the Blue Jays in heartbreaking fashion on a three-run, eighth-inning blast by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Alex Cora explained why he chose not to intentionally walk the slugger.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Thursday night.
