President Donald Trump threatened to add a 10% tariff rate on BRICS-aligned countries. The term first applied to 4 countries but the group expanded.

Without naming the US, the BRICS bloc issued a joint statement at the summit raising “serious concerns” over rising tariffs, saying the measures violate World Trade Organization rules.
