Murray took an official visit to the Plains on Saturday, Jan. 4, and by Sunday night, he became a Tiger one day later. Murray brings a heavy sack presence to the Auburn defense after posting a team-leading 5.5 sacks this season for Sam Houston. He ended the season with 35 total tackles and two forced fumbles.

The Auburn Tigers have added another defensive lineman through the transfer portal. Chris Murray has committed to the Tigers after transferring out of Sam Houston State. Auburn beat out Kentucky, who had received a crystal ball prediction to land Murray’s services,

Additionally, Auburn remains at No. 1 in the NET rankings and in KenPom. Auburn has six wins over Quad 1 opponents so far this season, making it the only team in college basketball that can say that. The Tigers did not earn their first Quad 1 win until February last season.

Usually, anything over 30 is good enough to earn the No. 1 ranking in KenPom’s database, but Duke and Tennessee were also over 30 at that point. Well, we may be in for a historic season of dominant teams because Houston and Iowa State have joined those three in the plus-30 club in the ensuing weeks.

For the fifth week in a row, Auburn men’s basketball remains No. 2 in the AP Top 25, trailing only Southeastern Conference foe Tennessee. The Tigers picked up 15 first place votes this week, compared to Tennessee’s 45.
